Pharmacy Technician

Prepares Students for
National Certification
Learn the skills necessary to work as a licensed Pharmacy Technician! Pharmacy Technicians work in retail stores, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities, contributing to the overall well-being of patients before, during, and after care. This class combines book work with hands-on training to prepare students for the optional national certification. A 120 hour externship is also available to eligible students.
Coursework includes:
• Transcribing physician’s orders
• Name brand, generic, OTC meds
• Dosages/abbreviations
• Preparing IVs
• Laws & Ethics
• Drug distribution systems
• Correct medication packaging
• Labeling prescriptions
The Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program prepares students to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) national exam. State licensure in pharmacy requires students pass the national exam and/or complete an externship. Students must also provide proof of high school graduation or equivalent to the State of California to obtain a license, and have no felony convictions.
To be licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in California, you must satisfy the requirements under Business and Professions Code section 4202.
Medication Technician

Prepares Students for
National Certification
A Medication Technician assists in coordinating the delivery of medication and health related items to residents within an assisted living community. Successful completion of our Certified Caregiver and our Pharmacy Technician program qualifies students for state licensure as a Pharmacy Technician and a Certificate of Completion in Caregiving.
